Thanos Ermilios was a relative of the pianist Maria Oikonomou-Gionis and specifically an uncle on her mother's side. Composer, conductor, music teacher in Middle and Higher Education, musicologist and musicologist, he contributed an important work to music education with his writings and teaching in schools, but also in conservatories, such as the Athens Conservatory, the Orpheus Conservatory of Athens, the Apollonius Conservatory , but also the Nice Conservatory, which he founded. In his long career he also founded and directed many student orchestras and choirs. Arriving in the hierarchy of Secondary Education teachers at the rank of General Inspector of Secondary Music Education, he was honored for his pedagogical work by the Athens Academy.

His compositions mainly include works for string orchestra and songs: "Hellenic Suite", "2 Choirs for Strings", "Fantasy for Violin and Strings", "4 Greek Dances" for orchestra, etc. In the 4 Greek Dances for Flute and the special 2nd Hellenic Dance transliterated for piano, which is included on the present disc and was written around 1960, also belongs to the strings.
