Sofia Mavrogennidou
 
 

She was born in Brno, Czech Republic. Her love and passion for music led her to musical studies which she completed with a diploma in flute and piano at the Academy of Music in Brno, Czech Republic with Bozena Ruzickova. In Paris she studied flute and chamber music with Christian Larde.

Upon her return to Greece, she began a musical career that includes concerts (in Greece and abroad), recordings, collaborations with various chamber music ensembles and orchestras such as "Camerata", ERT symphony orchestra, "Capella Istropolitana" and teaching.​

She has collaborated musically with important Greek and foreign musicians such as Sylvio Gualda, Claudio Abbado, Miloš Štědroň, Alfio Antico, Mikis Theodorakis, Iannis Xenakis, etc. In 2013 she obtained a soloist diploma with Irini Tsirakidou. She continued with other studies in musicology and baroque music, obtaining a Flute traverso diploma in 2006 from the Academy of Early Music of Masaryk University. She has a special fondness for baroque, Mediterranean and Latin American music. In recent years she has been composing and performing her own songs. She is one of the founding members of the bands "Group Escape" and "Duo Arioso" and has a rich discography to her credit.
