Mixed Choir of the Municipal Conservatory of Larissa
 
 

The Mixed Choir of the Municipal Conservatory of Larissa was founded in 1995, on the initiative of Maestro Yiannis Tsanakas and elite choirs of Larissa.

In 2002, its management was assigned to its current director, Dimitris Karvounis. He gave a large number of concerts in Larissa and other cities in Greece and abroad in which he presented a large number of a cappella works of choral music and in collaboration with various Orchestral Ensembles major works by: Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Orff, Theodorakis, Hadjidaki, Baltas , Leonti et al. In 2003 he was awarded at the "Mikis Theodorakis" Choir Festival of Nafpaktos, while in 2004 and 2009 he participated in the International Festival of Religious Music in Patmos. The male section of the choir participated in 2003-2004 in the show "Garden Theater" by Nikos Kypourgos, at the Concert Hall of Athens and Thessaloniki.

​In 2009 he gave a concert in honor of the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew. He recorded and released the CD "Ela na pame tsarka" with rebetika cantades, arranged for choir and instrumental ensemble. In 2014 and 2015 he organized choral music seminars with the distinguished conductor Antonis Kontogeorgiou.
He collaborated with the musical ensemble "Piandemonium" (six pianos, twelve pianists) in Larissa and at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, while participating in the performances "All Greece for Mickey", at the Athens Concert Hall and the Kallimarmaro Panathenaic Stadium. He collaborates with many organizations of the social and cultural life of the city (Municipality of Larissa, Thessalian Theatre, Holy Metropolis etc.).
