Andreas Polyzogopoulos
 
 

Andreas Polyzogopoulos was born in December 1981 and grew up in Samiko Ilia, Greece. There he had his first contact with music, starting to play the guitar. At sixteen he moved to Athens and studied jazz guitar with Iotis Samaras at the "Filippos Nakas" Conservatory. He graduated in 2002, while two years before he started playing the trumpet. In the same year he moved to the Netherlands and studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory. At the same time, he attended with Markus Stockhausen and seminars with Paolo Fresu in Sardinia. In 2006 he created the Poly Quartet, with which he recorded the CD Perfumed Dreams with his own compositions in 2008. With this format he won first place at the Motives for Jazz competition in Belgium. In 2010 he was a member of the European Youth Jazz Orchestra. In 2013 he made a tribute to his favorite group, Pink Floyd, and recorded the CD Heart of the Sun, which he presented in several European countries as well as in New York. He has collaborated with Tore Brunborg, Markus Stockhausen, Michel Portal, Tony Lakatos, Günter 'Baby' Sommer, Anne Paceo, Mode Plagal, Psarantoni, Savina Giannatou, Dulce Pontes, Haig Yazdjan, David Lynch, Baggelis Katsoulis, Takis Barberis, Thanasis Papakonstantinou etc. Also, he has participated in about 50 albums. In March 2015 he released his latest CD, Anicca, which consists of his compositions.
